Review: Slay by Brittney Morris

Finished Slay by Brittney M Morris last week and OMG!!! 😱 This book just blew me out of the water! Wow! So glad that I made it a priority this month. Definitely one of my top favorites from this year. I loved that this book put a spin on a difficult and often talked about subject. Racism.

Kiera is a teenage girl in high school with a secret life that neither her friends nor family know about. She’s the creator of a video game called Slay, a secret game built for black people that can only be accessed with a secret passcode given by others players. Kiera wanted an escape from every day life and have a place where she could let her hair down and be herself. Slay was the answer for her and so many others. Slay is a game built by black people, for black people. She uses black culture throughout the game and it was really cool to see this story pan out. The book takes a turn when Kiera’s imaginary world and her real world problems collide.

A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from. I will definitely reread this one again! Probably one of my favorite YA books yet. It was super engaging and the video game was appealing. I hope there is a real life version of the game in the works. lol
