Review: I’m Judging You: The Do Better Manual by Luvvie Ajayi
I so very badly wanted to love this book. But to my disappointment, it was lacking in so many places. It started off funny, but it lost me after a few chapters and was extremely hard to finish, even in audio format. I think it’s mainly because most of what was being said were things I already know as both a black woman and someone who’s in her early 30s.
I was reading some reviews on Goodreads just after I completed the book and noticed that the reviews by African Americans were very similar to my own, while the reviews of the Caucasians seemed to rave about the book and rate it 5 stars.
I believe it’s one of those books to awaken people, but if you’re already woke, a lot of it becomes repetitive and mad the book hard to chew through. I’ll admit, there were a few times where I found myself busting out laughing in the midst of rush hour traffic. Calling Trump Toupee Fiasco was a highlight for me.
Overall I’d give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating. I wish it’d had been as good as I anticipated but it is what it is.
