Review: The Color Purple by Alice Walker
This book was EVERYTHING! The movie has been one of my favorites since I can remember and I was surprised at how close the movie was to the book. Even down to some of my favorite lines.
I had attempted to read this book a couple of years ago but for some reason I never actually finished. Kind of glad that I didn’t because I feel like I’m now in a better position to appreciate the masterpiece that this book is. This is my first Alice Walker novel and I cannot wait to read more.
I found myself on an emotional roller coaster with many of the characters. Even Mister who I hated but then softened up to towards the end. Miss Celie was such a joy to watch in her development. From an abused little girl and (eventually) wife, to becoming a woman with a voice! She became little pieces of the people around her and was the glue that held everything and everyone together! A delight to read about.
Glad I was able to read this as part of Diverse Classics and Diverse Spines Book of the Month. Definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating for me. Video coming soon! Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCch0_4pK7f-DRc3JvNvpC-w
