Review: The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson

Y’all! This book is absolutely amazing and I am filled with so much emotion after reading it! I’ve never quite had a book that made me think so much about who I am and where my family is from! As one who’s migrated from the North to the South in the early 90s, it was interesting to hear how lives were lived here many many years before me.

Isabel did a wonderful job of capturing the lives of these individuals on paper. Their journeys to migration were interesting ones. By the end of the book I felt like I personally knew each one of these sweet souls. From laughter, to anger, to shedding tears, I felt every emotion as I read through this book!

I rated this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It’s one I highly recommend to all. It’s a bit lengthy but worth it. It tells a great story of our people and sheds light on the good, the bad and the ugly! I was happy to see our people try and make a better life for themselves. It truly is admirable!
