Review: Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward
This books was……interesting to say the least. Jesmyn Ward had such a beautiful style of writing. I enjoyed her words and the story for the most part, however the ghosts and all of the happenings in the end really had me confused. Like, what was their purpose other than tying together stories Pop had told of his past.
I think I would have loved to have seen how JoJo and Michael (his father) and their strange relationship develop and what Leonie ends up doing what her life. I would have loved to see them take more ownership of their kids and let JoJo live a little bit. Although because he lacks trust in his parent, I highly doubt that would ever happen. I also would have loved to hear more prison stories from Richie because that part did intrigue me. But once Richie found his way back to Pop/Riv….it was like nothing really happened there.
Overall I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, as it kept my attention and interest up until the very end. Not something I would rave about but not disappointed that I read it either.
