Review: His Only Wife by Peace Adzo Medie
Happy MLK Day, y’all! Hope your day will be as peaceful and restful as I’m planning mine to be.
Completed reading His Only Wife by @peacemedie on Friday night and……Whew, y’all! This one right here! That last 10% of the book kept me on EDGE! This book was so relatable on a level of dating and relationships. Sometimes we as single women fight to be seen, heard and loved properly. Afi, the main character was such an admirable woman. In the novel, a he’s set up in a arranged marriage (in which her husband to be wasn’t even in attendance at the wedding) and she’s handed a life-changing opportunity. Her new husband Elikem is extremely wealthy and a very busy businessman. So busy she doesn’t see her husband for a couple of months after she’s married and been whisked away to another city to live in his loft. There she awaits the day she finally gets to meet her husband face to face. Once she does a he then discovers that her “husband” is in love with another woman that his family disapproves of and wants Afi to win him back on their behalf. No pressure at all, right? 🥴
So many twists and turns in this book. I had a love/hate relationship with so many of the characters (except for her uncle Togã Pious. I flat out hated him. lol) in this novel. Definitely a book that will keep you on your toes and wondering what is going to happen next. Highly recommend this one! Major thank you to @algonquinbooks for gifting me a copy!

I liked this one a lot — I kept wondering how it could possibly unfold with so many characters in opposition to each other. ,
