Review: The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory

** spoiler alert **

As we all know, Jasmine Guillory is my kind of gal so it’s no surprise that I loved The Proposal as much as I did. I honestly may have enjoyed this one a little more than the last, simply because Nikole was a more confident woman than Alexa in The Wedding Date.

I loved how Carlos and Nikole bonded from the beginning as friends, with no added pressure. Their relationship seem to grow organically. They both were two individuals not seeking love and simply enjoyed each others company. Sex, dates and conversation with no strings attached. At least at first.

They meet at a baseball game when Nikole’s boyfriend (of 5 months) proposes to her on the Jumbo Tron at a Dodgers game in front of thousands of people, both in the park and later on tv when it goes viral. A man she hardly knew was asking her to marry him and he didn’t even spell her name right. Disappointed that Nik said no to the proposal, her boyfriend storms out leaving her in the crowd filled with embarrassment. *Cue camera crew to capture it all* Just as the cameramen were about to start rolling and capture the aftermath of the chaos on tape, Carlos and his sister come to the rescue to save the day by pretending to know Nikole and helping her make a clean getaway. This is the start of something beautiful.

I really admired Carlos as a man. I felt like he really took care of Alexa from the very beginning. Making sure she was ok. Whether it was after the game or after a dinner date, he always made sure that she was taken care of. I loved that Nickole (unlike Alexa) was extremely confident in herself in most, if not all aspects. I’m all for strong woman representations.

These two had a huge passion for food. They always seemed to have fun experiences that involved great eats. Through food their relationship started to blossom. It gets to the point where they keep claiming they don’t want anything serious, but Carlos can’t help it. He eventually spills his growing feelings to Nikole and they aren’t well received……….at first. But you know what they say. Distance makes the heart grow fonder. These two begin to realize how good they are for one another and decide to take things to the next level.

A 5 star read for me. Looking forward to the upcoming release, The Wedding Party. I hope that Carlos and Nikole will have major roles in the book because I liked them that much.
