February 2019 TBR
February is my favorite month for many reasons.
1. Black History Month
2. The #OnceYouGoBlackout challenge (on instagram)
3. Valentine’s Day
4. It’s my birthday month and the birthday month of so many greats!
Understandably it’s the one month where I am overwhelmed with love. Love for black people and love for self!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I make it a tradition every year in February to read only books authored by people of African diaspora, so here’s what I’ll be reading this month:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
— The Color Purple by Alice Walker with @diverseclassics and @diversespines
— Eloquent Rage by Brittney Cooper for our (Book Girl Magic’s) February Book of the Month — update: ebook is on sale all month long for $2.99 on Amazon, Nook and iBooks
— The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory as a little Valentine’s Day treat. update: just found out Reese Witherspoon’s book club is reading this for February 😱. The timing is epic!
— The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Aside from these personal book picks, I’ll be posting books and celebrating black authors all month long through the #OnceYouGoBlackOut challenge. My official day in the challenge is every Wednesday’s, so be sure to come back to see what I have in store for you! Follow the hashtag to look for challenge details!

Such an exciting month we have ahead! What will you be reading during the month of February?
