Review: Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

Y’all know I have a book type. The gushy love stories with a tad bit of drama. LOL While on vacation last week, I chose to read Crazy Rich Asians (CRA) because I’d heard it was a great vacation read. It did not disappoint.

I’d been holding out from reading this book since the summer, even before the movie came out. I really wanted a book that would hook me while on vacation and this did the trick. It’s not just a typical love story. It’s like the Asian Game of Thrones told from the different perspectives of the characters. Each characters story kept me in suspense and held my attention throughout the 500 page book. Quite a thick book (for me) might I add and I was able to tackle it in a week. I also love that it’s a trilogy. The ending of CRA had me wanting to know what happened to the main characters next. I actually ordered book #2 as the plane was in takeoff mode before I lost service. LOL I had to have the next book in my hands by the time I finished this one.

If you haven’t read the book, STOP READING NOW! I loved the relationship between Rachel Chu and Nicholas Young. Nicholas asks Rachel to take a trip home with him to Singapore to visit his family for the summer and attend his best friends wedding. Little does she know that he is one of Singapore’s richest eligible bachelors when she steps foot in this new land. From the time she arrives, Rachel is met with obstacle after obstacle trying to tear her and Nicholas apart. Blind to all of this, Nicholas begins to fall deeper in love with Rachel while she begins to question many things about their relationship and who her boyfriend really is. He just submerged her into this world with no warning. CRA left me excited to read the next book (China Rich Girlfriend) because the ending of CRA doesn’t quite give you the happily ever after we are searching for.

I gave this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Well written and kept my attention in its entirety. Probably one of my favorite lighter reads from this year! If you love a good romance novel, this is the book for you!
